Another year, another championship.

Keeping with recent tradition, the Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA. It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties.  women's softball team clinched sole possession of its fifth consecutive Foothill Conference title with an 11-1 victory over Citrus on Wednesday.

Coach Gene Pagliaro's Marauders (27-17-1, 9-1) await to hear the pairings for next week's Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California.  Kristal Nessa batted a team-high .423 with 25 stolen bases during the regular season and figures to be among several Marauders receiving top honors.

Catcher Teri Tilley batted .342 and threw out more than 80 percent of opposing baserunners and pitcher Correna Berlinger was 18-11 with a 2.81 ERA.

Baseball: The Marauders were scheduled to conclude their season with a Foothill Conference game Thursday afternoon at Victor Valley.

While their 10-29 record entering the game may not attract attention from any postseason committee, it was nonetheless, the team's best record in three seasons.

Football: The football program began spring practice on Monday.

The Marauders are looking to improve on last season's 5-5 record and 4-4 in conference.

Running back Lafayette Bailey is among the key returners for coach Brent Carder. Bailey rushed for 864 yards and 11 touchdowns last year.

Antelope Valley High School Antelope Valley High School is located in Lancaster, California and is part of the Antelope Valley Union High School District. It was founded in 1912[1]. It is located in the Mojave Desert.  product Bobby Brown and Quartz Hill's Justin Holtfreter, both incoming freshmen, will fight Brad Norris and Michael Gleich for the starting position.

Norris received medical clearance to play after skipping the 1996 season with back problems. Gleich, the Marauders' starter in 1994, recently returned to the school.

The Marauders will be well-represented at Saturday's Southern California Regional Preliminaries at Bakersfield.

Among those competing:

Women: Christine Bostick (110 and 400 hurdles); Satin Lewis (110 and 400 hurdles); Kelly Horne (mile and 5,000 meters); Jennifer Dykstra (5,000); Stacey Hartwell (discus and shot).

Men: Varick Dabney (200 and 400 meters); Emett Beatty (400); Roderick Boose (triple-jump and high jump); Joey Montelongo (10,000), Bobby Bacon (5,000), Husan Thompson (400 hurdles), Andy Drossell (110 and 400 hurdles); Vince Williams Vince Williams (July 11, 1957 – January 6, 1997) was an American actor from Natchitoches, Louisiana, best known for his role as "Hampton Speakes" on Guiding Light, which he played from 1989 to 1995.  (hammer); Mike Price (long jump).

The men also will be represented by its 4 x 400 relay team of Dabney, Beatty, Price and a runner to be named by coach Mark Covert.

Finals for the preliminary will conclude May 10, with the state finals running May 16 and 17 in Fresno.
