The Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA. It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties.  women's basketball Women's basketball is one of the few games which developed in tandem with men's. It became popular, spreading from the east coast of the United States to the west coast, in large part via women's colleges.  team starts Foothill Conference play Wednesday at Mt. San Jacinto as the two-time defending conference champion.

It will be the first time, however, that the Marauders will start conference play with a tournament title under its belt. In fact, it's been 21 years since Antelope Valley won a tournament at all.

This season, Antelope Valley (14-2) has won three tournaments -the San Diego, Glendale and Clear Channel tournaments, with AVC (1) (Advanced Video Coding) The video compression techniques used in the H.264 standard, jointly developed by ISO and the ITU-T. See H.264.

The Marauders have won their past 11 home games, a streak dating to 2003 and are 53-5 in the past four years in conference play under coach John Taylor. They opened 7-0, the best start in school history.

``We knew it would eventually happen,'' Taylor said about winning a tournament title. ``Sometimes you need a little luck and we were unlucky at times. But it all comes back around and we've been making all the good and great plays.''

 made one of the more memorable plays this season with a basket with 2.3 seconds left for a 60-59 victory over Imperial Valley in the Clear Channel tournament final.

Antelope Valley has demonstrated scoring and great balance with sophomores Mariqueta Starling starling, any of a group of originally Old World birds that have become distributed worldwide. Starlings were brought to New York in 1890; since then the common starling (Sturnus vulgaris) has spread throughout North America. , Shalonie Hutchinson and Sheena Crenshaw and freshmen RaChauna Randle and Kelli Valentine.

Starling, the most valuable player of the Glendale tournament, is the only Marauders player averaging double figures in scoring at 12.6 and also has a team-high 9.6 rebounds. Starling has received big contributions from her teammates.

Hutchinson was MVP (Multimedia Video Processor) A high-speed DSP chip from Texas Instruments, introduced in 1994. Officially introduced as the TMS320C80, it combines RISC technology with the functionality of four DSPs on one chip.  in the season-opening San Diego Mesa tournament and Randle won the the MVP honor in the Clear Channel tournament.

Taylor said if he were trying to scout his team, he would be hard-pressed to come up with a strategy.

``When you watch our team, we don't' have one standout,'' Taylor said. ``Everybody is legitimate and makes the special plays.''

--No three-peat: The Antelope Valley men's basketball team came up short in its bid to join the women as winners of three tournament titles. The Marauders lost 78-74 to West L.A. in the semifinals of the College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  tournament on Tuesday.
