The Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA.     Jeffrey Leonard (born September 22, 1955, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is a former outfielder in Major League Baseball with a 14-year career from 1977 to 1990. He played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Houston Astros and San Francisco Giants, all of the National League, and
     this week.

    ``We are very pleased and we certainly expect him to do a good job,'' AVC athletic director Athletic director (commonly, "athletics director") is a position at many American colleges and universities, as well as in larger high schools and middle schools, which oversees the work of the coaches and related staff involved in intercollegiate or interscholastic athletic  Brent Carder said of Leonard's hiring Monday. ``We fully expect the players in the program to have a positive experience. And we hope that their participation in the program would relate to positive experiences away from the college as well.''

    Leonard, who was unavailable for comment, is a 14-year veteran of the big leagues.

    Known as ``The Hac-Man'' during his playing days, Leonard brings a level of professionalism to AVC that was lacking in years past. He made his major-league debut with the Dodgers in 1977 and played for the Houston Astros “Astros” redirects here. For other uses, see Astros (disambiguation).

    --More Monday hirings: Becky MacQuarrie and Cindy Vargas were named co-coaches of the softball team and Robert Fulbright was hired to coach the women's soccer team.

    MacQuarrie, a member of AVC's Whit Carter Hall of Fame, probably will be the pitching coach. Vargas, the Marauders' all-time leading hitter, will work closely with the batters.

    Fulbright, a Cal State Northridge alumnus ALUMNUS, civil law. A child which one has nursed; a foster child. Dig. 40, 2, 14. , takes over the soccer program, which will be starting its fourth season. He has coached at Valley College and Milken High of Los Angeles.

    ``We felt that we had a very good group of candidates to choose from,'' Carder said. ``We'd like to hire everybody but we can't. So we're happy with the group we got and think they'll do a good job.''
