AVANT Announces Repurchase Plan of Up to 2 Million Shares.

NEEDHAM, Mass.--(BW HealthWire)--Aug. 16, 2002

AVANT Immunotherapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: AVAN) announced today that its Board of Directors has authorized the repurchase of up to 2 million shares in AVANT common stock in the open market or through privately negotiated transactions through August 31, 2003. Under the program, shares may be repurchased from time to time and in such amounts as market conditions warrant, and subject to regulatory considerations.
