AUTUMN ANTICS FALL SETTLES IN WITH MANY KINDS OF GHOULISH EVENTS.

Magic Mountain will transform into a ghostly autumn spook zone during the month of October as Fright Fest Fright Fest is an event that takes place at Six Flags parks during the Halloween season. During Fright Fest, the parks are redecorated and some attractions are re-named or re-themed for the event. The 12th annual Lombardi Ranch Pumpkin Festival will begin Sunday at 29527 Bouquet Canyon Road, Saugus; activities and entertainment will take place on weekends throughout October at the pumpkin patch.

Or take a ride on the Fillmore & Western Railway's PumkinLiner. It offers daytime excursions from Fillmore through rural fields to a pumpkin patch in Ventura County. The trains will depart from Central Park in Fillmore at 10 a.m., 12:10 p.m. and 2:20 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays throughout October.

After choosing the perfect pumpkin, passengers will visit the Gull Wings Museum On-The-Go, the portable component of the Gull Wings Children's Museum in Oxnard. The cost of the excursion is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, $7 for children ages 4 to 12, and $5 for infants to age 3.

For a more lengthy excursion, the railway offers an evening supper ride departing at 5 p.m. Sundays and 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, which includes the trip to the pumpkin patch and museum, and continues on through the rural countryside while passengers celebrate Octoberfest with hot dogs, chips and sodas for the kids and smoked sausage with sauerkraut and potatoes for the adults. A special Halloween treat is served for dessert.

The cost of the supper train is $22 for adults, $10.50 for children ages four to 12, and $5 for infants to age 3. Pumpkin prices start at $1. For information or reservations, call (800) 773-8724.
