AUTOTOTE NAMES WILLIAM LUKE CFO.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- February 27, 1996--A. Lorne Weil, Chairman and CEO of AUTOTOTE CORPORATION (NASDAQ/NMS:TOTE), today announced that William Luke has been named Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. In that position, Mr. Luke will be responsible for all areas of finance as well as MIS and human resources and will report directly to Mr. Weil. The CFO position had been vacant since the promotion of Thomas C. DeFazio to President and Chief Operating Officer.

"Bill Luke is a seasoned finance professional, with extensive experience in senior positions at two New York Stock Exchange companies," Mr. Weil said. "Bill will focus on the control, treasury, tax, audit and investor relations functions while continuing to upgrade our MIS and human resources efforts. Mr. Luke came from Nashua Corporation, a diversified industrial company with worldwide operations, with more than 10 years as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to that, Mr. Luke was Vice President and Treasurer of Data Terminal Systems, a manufacturer of point-of-sale systems.

Mr. Luke holds an M.B.A. in Accounting and Finance from the Amos Tuck School, Dartmouth College, and a B.S. in Management from Boston College. -0-
