AUTOTOTE APPOINTS GERALD LAWRENCE VICE PRESIDENT; Responsible For Company's North American Pari-Mutuel Operations, Autotote Enterprises and Recently Acquired Simulcasting Business.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 6, 1994--AUTOTOTE CORPORATION (NASDAQ NM Symbol: TOTE), today announced the appointment of Gerald Lawrence as a Vice President of the Company.

Lawrence, 55, will become a Vice President of the corporation responsible for Autotote's North American Pari-Mutuel business, including its pari-mutuel wagering systems business based in Newark, Delaware, Autotote Enterprises, which operates the OTB system in the State of Connecticut, and its newly acquired communications services which include simulcast and closed circuit television operations.

Lawrence recently resigned as Executive Vice-President of the New York Racing Association where he oversaw the daily operations of its three race tracks from 1991 through 1994. From 1984 to 1991, Mr. Lawrence served as Vice President and General Manager for Churchill Downs where he was responsible for the execution of a $25 million capital improvement program, a major factor in Churchill's unprecedented success. During Mr. Lawrence's tenure, Churchill set attendance and handle records for seven consecutive seasons.
