Nicole Stone wasn't breathing when her mother, Carrie, checked on her about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in their home in the Briarwood Mobile Home Estates, officials said. ``I was holding my baby dead and I didn't even know,'' said Stone, 26. ``My daughter died of crib death.'' But officials said they were waiting for the autopsy to determine a cause of death for the baby, whose body displayed no signs of trauma. Stone said her daughter had stopped eating a few days earlier, and she had arranged for a friend to take her and the infant to the hospital Wednesday. ``I was going to take her today, but she died last night,'' said Stone. ``My baby didn't make it.'' |
