AUTO REPOSSESSION HAZARD STABBING SUSPECT ARRESTED.

PALMDALE - Sheriff's deputies arrested on Friday a reputed gang member suspected of stabbing an automobile repossessor who was trying to retrieve a car at a Palmdale apartment building.

The victim, a 37-year-old Lancaster resident whose name was not released, suffered a deep stab wound to the back of the neck about 4:25 p.m. Thursday, and was airlifted to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center Providence Holy Cross Medical Center is a hospital in Mission Hills, California, USA. The victim had connected the vehicle to the tow truck when he was approached by Peters and Torres, who screamed at him not to repossess their car, Ullman said.

``By the time the vehicle is hooked to the truck, it's the repossessor's responsibility and he can't let it go,'' Ullman said.

Witnesses told deputies that Peters attacked the victim, and that Torres stabbed the man in the neck with a lockblade knife, Ullman said.

The suspect, a reputed gang member, fled, leaving the victim collapsed next to his truck - the knife still in his neck, Ullman said.

Deputies searched the neighborhood for an hour but failed to find Torres. Peters was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder In the criminal law, attempted murder is committed when the defendant does an act that is more than merely preparatory to the commission of the crime of murder and, at the time of these acts, the person has a specific intention to kill. , officials said.

She was taken to the Lancaster sheriff's station jail where she was being held in lieu of $1 million bail. Torres was arrested on a warrant for suspicion of attempted murder. His bail was not immediately known.
