AUTHORITIES PROBING PRISON INMATE'S DEATH.

Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County coroner's officials are investigating the death of a state prison inmate, a convicted murderer serving a life sentence without possibility of parole.

Daniel Hikes, 36, was found not breathing April 7 in his cell at California State Prison-Los Angeles County. He was transported to the prison infirmary and later pronounced dead.

Although an autopsy was completed, officials said that a cause of death could not be determined. There was no visible sign of trauma, officials said.
