An 85-year-old Burbank resident paid Prizant $3,600 last summer to replace a deck, but Prizant destroyed the old deck and never returned, Ferguson said. The resident, whose name police would not release, tried unsuccessfully to reach Prizant by phone, using the numbers Prizant left him. The resident then visited the address Prizant had given him and discovered it was merely a mail drop, Ferguson said. Officials from the Contractors State License Board confirmed for the resident that Prizant is not a licensed contractor, as he claimed to be, Ferguson said. The detective said Prizant used his own senior citizen status to gain the trust of other elderly people.
