The classy Auriette will put her three-race win streak on the line today, when she takes on seven solid fillies and mares in the $250,000-added Beverly Hills Handicap The Beverly Hills Handicap is an American Thoroughbred horse race held annually in late June at Hollywood Park Racetrack in Inglewood, California. The Grade II un over a distance of 1 ΒΌ miles on turf, the race is open to fillies and mares three years of age and older.  (Gr. I) at Hollywood Park Hollywood Park may be several places:
  • Hollywood Park, Texas
  • Hollywood Park, Chicago, a neighborhood in Chicago
  • Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles, California

Auriette began the year with an easy allowance score in March, and parlayed the effort into a 3 1/2-length win in Santa Anita's Grade II Santa Barbara Handicap The Santa Barbara Handicap is a race for Thoroughbred horses run at Santa Anita Park each year. The race is open to fillies and mares, age three and up, willing to race one and one-quarter miles on the turf.

The Grade IIT Santa Barbara offers a purse of $200,000.
. In her first start for son Marty, the Irish-bred filly cruised to a 2 1/4-length win in the June 9 Gamely Handicap (Gr. I) at Hollywood Park, to boost her career record to five wins, four seconds, one third and earnings of $552,419 from 13 starts.

Auriette carries the 121-pound high weight and will be ridden by regular rider Kent Desormeaux Kent J. Desormeaux (born February 27, 1970, in Maurice, Vermilion Parish, Louisiana) is an American thoroughbred horse racing Hall of Fame jockey who holds the U.S. record for most races won in a single year. . The tandem will break from post position No. 6.

In from the East Coast to challenge Auriette is Bail Out Becky from the powerful Bill Mott stable. Mott, the Eclipse Award-winning trainer who also conditions Horse of the Year Cigar, currently leads the nation in money-won with $7,984,143 in purse money.

Bail Out Becky, owned by Sarah and Kenneth Ramsey, has won half of her starts - 18-9-3-3-$631,985 - and comes into the Beverly Hills Beverly Hills, city (1990 pop. 31,971), Los Angeles co., S Calif., completely surrounded by the city of Los Angeles; inc. 1914. The largely residential city is home to many motion-picture and television personalities.  riding a two-race win streak of her own. The 4-year-old daughter of Red Ransom rolled to victory from off the pace in a pair of Churchill Downs stakes - the May 18 Mint Julep and June 23 Locust Grove - by 4 1/2 and two lengths, respectively.

Bail Out Becky - who will be ridden by Craig Perret, the regular rider of 1990 Horse of the Year Unbridled - is no stranger to Southern California race tracks. The bay filly captured the Grade I Del Mar Oaks The Del Mar Oaks is an American Thoroughbred horse race for three-year-old fillies. The race carries a purse of $400,000 and is a Grade I event at a distance of one and one-eighth miles (9 furlongs) on the turf at the Del Mar Racetrack in Del Mar, California.  last summer, and returned to the West Coast in the fall to finish tenth, but only three lengths back of winner Duda, in the $700,000 Matriarch (Gr. I).

Bail Out Becky, carrying 118 pounds, breaks on the inside of Auriette in the five-hole.

Darley Stud Management Inc.'s Fanjica and Grafin will be coupled in the wagering.
