ATV prowls side-by-side.

California-based ATV Corporation has unveiled a side-by-side version of its Prowler Internally Transportable Vehicle (ITV) light tactical wheeled vehicle. The new Prowler II tactical/assault platform was designed with the same physical dimensions as the original Prowler yet, due to its new body design, can carry more payload and crew. The Prowler is a purpose-built vehicle that is not, contrary to what some believe, a recreational ATV modified for military use. The Prowler II features automatic transmission with Hi/Lo four-wheel drive, reverse and park functions (unheard of on an ATV), as well as regular two-wheel drive, limited slip four-wheel and four-wheel lock drive functions. Top speed is just over 101 km/hr on EMT run-flat tyres, and the vehicle has a 455-kg payload capacity, a 1020-kg towing capability and a 1360-kg rated winch. The Prowler II can wade through a 92-cm-deep puddle without its optional snorkel and weighs a sporty 454 kg right out of the box.
