Perez said it will help to have one attorney overseeing all police cases. At present, Parks often must deal with many attorneys on cases.

``It will be good for the chief to have someone closely working with him on litigation and employee relations,'' said Matt Middlebrook, a spokesman for City Attorney James Hahn.
