The woman, described only as middle-age, was walking along Stevenson Ranch Parkway approximately 100 yards north of Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County Fire Station 124 at noon when she was approached by a man in his 30s wearing pantyhose over his head, said sheriff's Sgt. Jim Rios.

The man hit the victim on the back of her head, knocking her out, Rios said.

The attacker dragged his victim into a nearby canyon, where she regained consciousness and realized that she had been raped. She threw a rock at the man, hitting him in the head as he fled, Rios said.
