Board declares three-for-two stock split and quarterly dividend

ATRION Corporation (Nasdaq/NM: ATRI) formerly AlaTenn Resources, Inc., today announced significant increases in earnings for both the third quarter and first nine months of 1996, compared with year-earlier periods.

The Company also announced that the Board of Directors has approved a three-for-two stock split to be effected in the form of a stock dividend of one share for every two common shares outstanding. . The split will increase the number of outstanding common shares to approximately 3.2 million. The Company's Board of Directors also declared a quarterly cash dividend of $.20 per share on all post-split shares, which is equivalent to the Company's previous quarterly dividend of $.30 per share on a pre-split basis. Both the stock dividend and the cash dividend will be payable on December December: see month.  2, 1996 to shareholders of record on November 20, 1996.

Net income for the quarter increased 40% to $1.8 million or $.83 per share compared with $1.3 million or $.59 per share in the prior-year period. Net income for the third quarter included a non-recurring after tax gain of $301,000 or $.14 per share related to final adjustments for take-or-pay costs incurred by the Company's interstate in·ter·state
