 ATRIA COMPLETES SECOND ROUND OF VENTURE FUNDING;
 COMPANY POISED TO MEET GROWING MARKET DEMAND
 NATICK, Mass., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Atria Software Inc. today announced that it has completed its second round of venture funding, raising more than $4.1 million from four leading venture capital firms.
 Two of the firms -- Matrix Partners and Sigma Partners -- were Atria's venture backers in the first round of financing, while the two new investors -- Highland Capital Partners and Morgenthaler Ventures -- joined in this round.
 The financing follows two significant Atria announcements -- the release of ClearCase(TM), Atria's software system designed to manage the increasingly complex process of software development; and OEM and distribution agreements with Hewlett-Packard Company and Silicon Graphics Inc., through which the two computer vendors will market and support ClearCase.
 "Atria's success in securing venture capital during these difficult economic times reaffirms the expectation that ClearCase would address a growing market need," said Paul Levine, president and CEO of Atria. "We are especially pleased that our two original investors -- Matrix and Sigma -- are satisfied with our success to date, and feel strongly enough about our business plan to remain committed to Atria."
 "When we initially invested in Atria in 1990, we felt they had the right business model for success," said Paul Ferri, a general partner of Matrix Partners. "The company's founders -- the original developers of Apollo's industry-leading software configuration management product, DSEE -- convinced us that ClearCase was the best product to manage large-scale software development projects. The initial success of ClearCase has confirmed this belief, and we are confident that with more financing the company can multiply its success."
 ClearCase, which is targeted at the growing UNIX/open systems marketplace, is the industry's most advanced Software Configuration Management System. ClearCase simplifies the process of organizing the many parts of a software development project that are frequently dispersed throughout different networks and locations and reduces the cost of software development by improving programmer productivity and reducing time-to-market. It also improves the quality of software by ensuring that releases are built with the correct, properly-tested components.
 This round of venture funding will contribute to the next phase of Atria's business plan, aimed at expanding the distribution of ClearCase into additional geographic markets, supporting additional platforms, and developing new products to complement ClearCase. The company is currently in the process of hiring additional staff members to facilitate these goals.
 ClearCase started shipping this month. Initial ClearCase platforms include Sun Microsystems' SPARCstations(TM) and Silicon Graphics' IRIS 4DTM family of RISC-based systems. ClearCase will be available on the HP Apollo 9000 Series 700 systems in September. ClearCase is also completely compatible with a broad range of software engineering tools.
 Atria Software Inc. develops ClearCase, the premier Software Configuration Management system for the UNIX/open systems marketplace. The company was founded in January 1990 by a group of industry leaders in CASE and UNIX software development. Atria is headquartered in Natick, Mass., with offices in Sacramento, Calif., and Dallas, Texas.
