headquarters in Witney, Oxfordshire, UK to spearhead its expansion strategy into Europe's smart card market. Dee Winton joins Emosyn as European Customer Service Manager. These moves support Emosyn's plans to bring to market a new generation of semiconductor devices aimed at the high-growth market for smart card integrated circuits Integrated circuits

Miniature electronic circuits produced within and upon a single semiconductor crystal, usually silicon. Integrated circuits range in complexity from simple logic circuits and amplifiers, about 1/20 in. (1.
 (ICs).

Emosyn's new office will handle sales of the Rania(tm) development tools and the products announced in the alliance with Xicor which develops non-volatile in-the-system memory products - for the smart card market. The Rania development tools enable rapid software development and testing. This sets the stage for the expected launch later this year of the Theseus(tm) family of semiconductor products - being developed jointly by Emosyn and Swatch Group's EM Microelectronics microelectronics, branch of electronic technology devoted to the design and development of extremely small electronic devices that consume very little electric power. , of Marin, Switzerland. The Theseus family of ICs is designed to extend the envelope of existing technologies in density, speed, power, and memory flexibility.

Grahame Lucas, Emosyn Director of Sales - Europe, said, "With the opening of our European headquarters, we are able to meet the expanding need for advanced smart card solutions. We have ambitious plans for 1999 and 2000, and we are committed to providing support for our European partners and customers that is second to none. We're also delighted to welcome Dee Winton to Emosyn - she will play an invaluable role in our expansion strategy."

Dee will work alongside Grahame Lucas and Phil Barnett, Director of Product Marketing. She will handle sales of Swatch Group's EM Microelectronics products, and the memory-based smart card-related IC products from Xicor. Dee started as a chip layout designer with Plessey Semiconductors, progressing into sales and distribution of semiconductor components. Her previous position - as Product Marketing manager within Delta Impact, a respected UK components distributor - brings a wealth of experience to the expanding Emosyn team.
