ATM con is foiled at bank.

SKIMMING fraudsters have struck in Scotland using a con that saw a gang of Europeans net pounds 200,000.

The scam was discovered when two 24-year-old men tried to use a city centre ATM at a Clydesdale Bank The Clydesdale Bank PLC is a commercial bank in the United Kingdom, a subsidiary of the nab Group. In Scotland, the Clydesdale Bank is the third largest clearing bank, although it also retains a branch network in London and the north of England.  in Aberdeen.

Their card got stuck and a section of the machine fell off revealing the real ATM slot beneath.

Grampian Police Grampian Police is the police force for the north east of Scotland, covering the council areas of Aberdeenshire, City of Aberdeen and Moray (the former Grampian region). The force is headquartered in Aberdeen.  DC Colin Crighton said: "It is a highly professional looking piece of equipment which could fool a lot of people.

"Fortunately, these two men were vigilant and discovered the scam."

Romanians Lucian Carabgeac, 31, Ivan Grosu, 23, Moldovan Vornicu Florin, 26 and 20-year-old Chechan Rulan Ashan were jailed for four years after they targeted banks in London.

Using skimmers they filmed the PIN numbers of thousands of customers and stole up to pounds 200,000 from machines.

The illegal immigrants were nabbed when they started targeting banks in Cardiff.
