ATLANTA MARCHES ON, OVER : CLIPPERS' RECORD AGAINST EAST HEADS SOUTH ATLANTA 112, CLIPPERS 96.

Byline: Gary Washburn Daily News Staff Writer

In addition to warning the Clippers about entering his domain, Dikembe Mutombo's waving finger had great significance on Tuesday.

No, don't shoot in the key. No, Stanley Roberts Stanley Corvet Roberts (born February 7 1970, in Hopkins, South Carolina) is an American former professional basketball player who was selected by the Orlando Magic in the 1st round (23rd overall) of the 1991 NBA Draft.  is not ready to face a dominant center. No, the Clippers have yet to reach the point of matching a team that's hot or even warm.

Atlanta is hot. Mookie Blaylock For the band previously named Mookie Blaylock, see .
Daron Oshay "Mookie" Blaylock (born March 20, 1967 in Garland, Texas) is a retired American professional basketball player in the NBA.

A 6 ft 1 in (1.
proved the Hawks' success is not limited to the Omni, scoring 34 points in a 112-96 win in front of 5,327 at the Sports Arena.

The Clippers had only Mutombo and Blaylock to blame for their trouble. Mutombo blocked eight shots and showed Roberts, just activated off the injured list, what a true intimidating center is supposed to do.

Blaylock then taught Darrick Martin Darrick David Martin (born March 6, 1971 in Denver, Colorado, United States) is an American professional basketball player, currently with the NBA's Toronto Raptors. Martin has became known as a solid veteran who provided quality minutes as a reserve, maintaining a career free  a lesson in this point-guard scoring stuff. Martin had 20 in 27 minutes, but it paled in comparison to Blaylock's seven 3-pointers and countless rally-killing shots.

Clippers coach Bill Fitch William Fitch (born May 19 1934 in Davenport, Iowa) is a former NBA coach who has been successful in making teams playoff contenders throughout his coaching career. Before entering the professional ranks he coached college ball at the University of Minnesota, Bowling Green State  coached Blaylock in New Jersey, so he knew what was coming. He inserted Pooh Richardson Jerome "Pooh" Richardson (born May 14 1966 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American former National Basketball Association (NBA) player.

The 6'1" point guard was taken by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the tenth overall pick of the 1989 NBA Draft out of UCLA.
to guard Blaylock and even put 6-foot-8 Malik Sealy Malik Sealy (February 1, 1970 – May 20, 2000) was an American professional basketball player from 1992 until his death in an automobile accident. Sealy played eight seasons in the NBA for the Indiana Pacers, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Detroit Pistons, and the Minnesota  on the 6-foot-1 guard. Nothing worked. He hit shots leaning, running and with hands in his face.

``When he finds his spot, he's deadly,'' Fitch said. ``That guy (Martin) didn't have too much success against him. He's got the scoring part down, but he's got to learn how to stop guards like that.''

Blaylock hit a 3-pointer to end the third quarter for an 87-70 Hawks lead, practically ending the game. The Clippers weren't going to stop anybody in the fourth quarter and definitely weren't going to go inside, thanks to Mutombo.

Every time he sent a shot back through the air, he waved his index finger in disbelief. He even intimidated Roberts, who had two shots blocked and passed up others because the $50 million man had his long arms in the way.

``Hopefully, I'll get him when I'm healthy,'' Roberts said. ``He got the best of me tonight. Next time I'll be in better shape.''

Roberts admitted his back is not 100 percent and he did run in pain. But doctors have told him rest will not improve his condition. Anyway, with 24 missed games already this season and 178 in the past three seasons, Roberts has had his share of time off.

``I like a vacation, but I've done that a little too much in recent years,'' Roberts said. ``It's time It's Time was a successful political campaign run by the Australian Labor Party (ALP) under Gough Whitlam at the 1972 election in Australia. Campaigning on the perceived need for change after 23 years of conservative (Liberal Party of Australia) government, Labor put forward a  for me to get on the court.''

Roberts logged 10 minutes and scored one bucket, a 20-foot jumper when Mutombo was standing in the key. A better performance might not have made a difference. The Clippers are 3-12 against the Eastern Conference and allowed Atlanta to shoot 57.5 percent from the field.

Unlike in the Indiana game two weeks ago, the Clippers can attribute this blowout loss to playing a much better team. Atlanta has won 10 of 11.

The Clippers' momentum scale might not tip to the other side, especially with Vancouver and Golden State approaching.

``Hey, I thought they were going to cool off,'' power forward Loy Vaught Loy Stephen Vaught (born February 27, 1968 in Grand Rapids, Michigan) is a retired American basketball player who spent ten seasons in the NBA, primarily with the Los Angeles Clippers.  said. ``But they didn't. I know that because I didn't get any rebounds (five below his average). We can't get too down about this one. They just beat us.''

Layups: The Clippers placed Dwayne Schintzius Dwayne Kenneth Schintzius (born October 14 1968 in Brandon, Florida) is an American basketball player perhaps best known for his role as a Russian player in the 1996 Whoopi Goldberg comedy Eddie, and his mullet.  on the injured list with a sore back.
