ATL Products selected by Hewlett-Packard as exclusive tape library supplier for HP 9000 Business Servers.

ANAHEIM, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 26, 1995--ATL Products Inc., an Odetics company, Tuesday announced that it has been selected by Hewlett-Packard as the exclusive supplier of Digital Linear Tape (DLT) libraries for the HP 9000 family of Business Servers.

Under the arrangement, HP will recommend ATL Products' DLT-based ACL4/52 as the preferred automated tape solution for customers buying its business server products. All library sales, service, installation and support will be handled through ATL Products' resellers and service organizations.

ATL Products has made a major commitment to support HP sales efforts involving its DLT library by designing new products and implementing new programs.

The ACL4/52, which has been qualified by HP, is a special configuration that will only be sold for connection to HP 9000 Business Servers. Additionally, ATL Products has set up dedicated phone support lines at its headquarters facility in Anaheim, at its European facility in London, and in Singapore to serve the Asia- Pacific region.

Those offices will be staffed by support personnel who will be available to consult with HP representatives on configurations and requirements for the ACL4/52 when matched with a specific HP 9000 server.

ATL Products is in the process of qualifying an elite group of VARs to work with HP for sales, service, support and installation of the ACL4/52 worldwide. Whenever possible, ATL will fulfill HP needs through its reseller channel. If VARs are unable to handle the transaction, the company will use its own service personnel.

With data compression enabled, capacity is boosted to well more than 2 terabytes. Each of the four DLT drives supports a sustained data rate of 1.5 megabytes per second in native mode, at least three times as fast as 8mm drives.
