ATI Medical Appoints Dr. Peter D. Grimm to its Scientific Advisory Board.

ATI Medical Inc., developer of promising treatments for localized cancer, today announced the appointment of Dr. Peter D. Grimm, D.O., to its Scientific Advisory Board.

Dr. Grimm is a board-certified member of the American College of Radiology - Therapeutics. He is the medical director of the Seattle Prostate Institute (SPI), and was instrumental in establishing SPI as a premier center of excellence in the area of prostate permanent radioactive seed implant services (brachytherapy). The research, technique development, and professional activities of SPI physicians and staff have been instrumental in building acceptance of prostate seed implantation by the medical community and patients. Their contributions to this field have given birth to an explosive industry.

As one of the pioneers in prostate brachytherapy, Dr. Grimm has performed over 2,000 prostate implants, and has trained over 4,000 physicians, physicists and dosimetrists in the procedure. Dr. Grimm has developed, or helped develop, improvements in the equipment and supplies widely used in prostate implantation. Dr. Grimm is also a founder of Pro-Qura, an organization that provides ongoing technical assistance and quality assurance to prostate implant programs. A sought after speaker at professional meetings and conferences, Dr. Grimm has authored over 40 papers.

Dr. Grimm earned his medical degree at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed his graduate training in radiation oncology at UCLA. He has served as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at UCLA, and as Clinical Professor at College of Medicine of The Pacific. He is past president of the Washington State Radiological Society.

Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in men. The American Cancer Society estimates that, in 2002 in the U.S., 189,000 new cases will be diagnosed and over 30,000 men will die of the disease.

ATI Medical is a privately held company that is focused on the development and commercialization of a family of implants for the treatment of prostate cancer and other diseases.
