EMERYVILLE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 17, 2003

American Telesource, Inc. (ATI (ATI Technologies Inc., Markham Ontario, http://ati.amd.com) A leading manufacturer of graphics chips and display adapters. Founded in 1985 by K. Y. ) that will automatically dispatch and provide specific instructions to medical professionals and emergency response personnel in the event of a bio-terrorism attack or other medical emergency.

ATI's ERCS program uses multi-media and telephony technologies to alert and communicate instructions via telephone, fax and email to medical professionals. Depending on the situation and an agency's need, the ERCS solution also can include speech recognition and wireless capabilities, and can incorporate new communications technologies as they are developed.

"The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), agency of the U.S. Public Health Service since 1973, with headquarters in Atlanta; it was established in 1946 as the Communicable Disease Center.  has instructed state and county governments to develop systems that will efficiently alert their medical communities in the case of an emergency," said Steve Viets, President of ATI. "We are very excited about our partnership with ATI," said Linda Cosgrove, Alameda County Public Health Administrator. "Implementation of the ERCS system will greatly increase our ability to respond to a potential bio-terrorist event or other public health emergency."

Alameda County, in conjunction with ATI, has identified the following groups within the county that will selectively be notified:

-- The Bio-terrorism Leadership Team

-- County public health employees

-- Department of Environmental Health employees

-- Hospitals

-- Labs

-- Pharmacies

-- Community clinics

-- School superintendents

-- Department of Behavioral Health Care employees and resources

-- Office of Emergency Services (OES)

-- County Police, Fire, and 9-1-1 Dispatch Managed Care Providers

-- Media

ATI is talking with a number of other California counties about how the ERCS can help them meet federal requirements and deadlines.

ATI selected Edify Software, the IVR/workflow industry leader to develop the Alameda County ERCS package. "The system is completely open to practically all data environments," Viets said. "Application development is simple and system deployment is fast."
