Sharp Microelectronics of the Americas announced today the LH79402 Hardware Development Toolkit is now available with Accelerated Technology Inc.'s Nucleus PLUS Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) Evaluation CD with Board Support Package, which allows developers to shorten development time and get their products to market quickly.

This combination will be demonstrated at the Wireless Symposium/Portable by Design Conference & Exhibition February 23-25 at the San Jose Convention Center, booth No. 1208.

The integration of ATI's Nucleus RTOS with Sharp's LH79402 Universal Microcontroller, the fastest ARM7Thumb standard embedded microcontroller in the industry, provides customers of telecom/datacom equipment, office automation and consumer products with a complete solution with well documented source code and no royalty fees.

With ATI's Webserv(TM) software and the LH79402, customers can enable low cost, internet-connected consumer and industrial products," explained Jay Johnson, product marketing manager. Examples of this technology are vending and ATM cash machines and home appliance/security networking. For instance, thermostat controls can be designed as an embedded web server and be remotely accessed. The homeowner can dial up this equipment to check the status, change temperatures and identify potential problems. Business owners can call their machines and check the condition of their inventory.

"Internet appliances are popping up everywhere and many need affordable network access. However, they don't all need a PC server," Johnson said.
