, Nasdaq: ATYT ATYT ATI Technologies, Inc (stock symbol) ) announced that Compaq has selected ATI's RAGE Mobility-M1 graphics chip for its latest line of consumer Internet notebook PCs, the Compaq Presario 1700 series.

The RAGE Mobility family of products continues to gain market share momentum. ATI (ATI Technologies Inc., Markham Ontario, http://ati.amd.com) A leading manufacturer of graphics chips and display adapters. Founded in 1985 by K. Y. Ho, Benny Lau and Lee Lau, ATI chips and boards are widely used by OEMs.  has announced 28 design wins to date for RAGE Mobility derivatives. In the case of the new Presario 1700 series, RAGE Mobility is used in a notebook that measures only 5.2lbs in eight and 1.3" thick designed to combine power with portability. The notebook features display panels up to 14.1 XGA (EXtended Graphics Array) A screen resolution of 1,024x768 pixels. The term stems from IBM's XGA display standard introduced in 1990, which extended VGA to 132-column text and interlaced 1,024x768x256 resolution. XGA-2 later added non-interlaced 1,024x768x64K.  format for full-function "on the go computing."
