: ATYT ATYT ATI Technologies, Inc (stock symbol) ), a world leader in the supply of graphics, video and multimedia solutions, announced today that its award-winning RADEON(TM) 8500, the world's fastest and most technologically advanced graphics board(1), has received even more industry recognition -- a highly-coveted Kick Ass Award from Maximum PC Magazine.

The award was announced in the November 2001 issue of Maximum PC and the RADEON 8500 was also featured on the cover of that issue, which bore the headline "Must-Have Hardware." To qualify as a Kick Ass product, Will Smith, Technical Editor of Maximum PC, ran the RADEON 8500 through a variety of tests and benchmarks to ensure its performance was stellar -- even up against the most challenging games and applications. It received a perfect score of 10 out of 10.

Features that qualified it as a Kick Ass product included ATI's TRUFORM(TM) technology, which enhances the visual quality of models; the fast 275MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  (megahertz One million cycles per second. See MHz.

"The RADEON 8500 is a great product," said Toshi Okumura, Senior Product Manager, Desktop Marketing, ATI Technologies Inc. "Each of its features are fantastic on their own, and when you combine them, it really is a Kick Ass product. We're happy that Maximum PC has recognized this with their award."
