Two new Pentium 4-M notebooks from IBM (NYSE:IBM) - the IBM ThinkPad A31 and A31p - will include ATI's MOBILITY(TM) RADEON(TM) 7500 and MOBILITY(TM) FIRE GL(TM) 7800 GPUs (graphics processing units).
The IBM ThinkPad A31 notebook features the MOBILITY RADEON 7500 graphics processor with 32MB DDR SDRAM, and the IBM ThinkPad A31p is the first shipping notebook to include the world's most advanced mobile workstation processor, the MOBILITY FIRE GL 7800, with 64MB DDR SDRAM.
The ThinkPad A31p features the Intel Pentium(R) 4-M processor operating at 1.7 GHz (gigahertz), and includes a 15" TFT (thin-film transistor) panel that can display up to UXGA (ultra extended graphics adapter) resolutions (1600 X 1200 pixels). This high-end ThinkPad FlexView display provides greater brightness, superior contrast and an exceptionally wide 170-degree viewing angle. The IBM ThinkPad A31p also features a 60 GB (gigabyte)high-speed hard drive, two modular bays that can house a variety of optional devices including the modular Ultrabay2000 DVD/CD-RW (digital versatile disc/compact disc re-writable) optical drive.
The A31 features the Intel Pentium(R) 4-M processor operating at 1.6 GHz, a 15" TFT panel that can display up to SXGA resolutions (1280 X 1024 pixels), a 40 GB hard drive, and the same Ultrabay2000 DVD/CD-RW optical drive. Select models of the A31 and A31p include integrated 802.11b and Bluetooth(TM) wireless and include up to a 15" TFT (thin-film transistor) panel that can display up to UXGA (ultra extended graphics adaptor) resolutions (1600 X 1200 pixels). This high-end ThinkPad FlexView display features IPS (in plane switching) technology, which provides greater brightness, superior contrast and an exceptionally wide 170-degree viewing angle.
