COVENTRY Godiva Harriers' Matthew Halliday Matthew Halliday (born 23 January 1987) is an English footballer who currently plays as a defender for Norwich City.

Halliday was born in Norwich and joined Norwich City as a trainee.
retained his under- 13 title as local race walkers figured prominently in the medal winners at the National Younger Age Group Championships.

meeting at Victoria Park, Leamington, and there were further golds for Lewis Hayden and his Nuneaton Harriers club team in the under-17 mens 5km and Coventry Godiva's under-15 boys team.

Halliday finished 35 seconds clear of second-placed Michael Silvester (Aldershot & Farnham) as he powered to victory in 10-08.

Hayden came in 22 seconds ahead of Jack Tomlin (Dartford Harriers) with Nuneaton's Simon Hambridge third in 25-29 to secure the team crown.

Godiva's Mark O'Kane (16-03) took the silver medal in the under-15 boys 3km, 37 seconds adrift of Callum Taylor (Manx Harriers), and with Chris Arch (20-45) in eighth place, Coventry landed the team title.

In the under-13 girls, Coventry's Enya Tabram (11-30) secured the bronze medal after a race-long tussle for third place with Nuneaton's Joleen Yeoman yeoman (yō`mən), class in English society. The term has always been ill-defined, but generally it means a freeholder of a lower status than gentleman who cultivates his own land.  who finished four seconds down.

Claire Yeoman of Nuneaton clocked a personal best 17-30 for fifth place in the under-15 girls 3km.

Increasingly strong winds affected the meeting and by the time the senior men's 20km Grand Prix got under way, the gale was so severe that the walkers were almost brought to a standstill in the home straight.

Jiri Malysa, who has represented the Czech Republic at the last two Olympic Games, led the field home in 1-30-43, some 11 minutes outside his best, with Coventry University twins Daniel (1-31-01) and Dominic King (1-33- 17) spearheading the home challenge in second and third places to take gold and silver in the UK championship and all but guarantee their places at the forthcoming World Cup in Naumburg.

Nuneaton Harriers were fifth team via Terry Morris (2-10-27) and Neale Smith (2-21-12).

Turkey's Yeliz Ay, who had travelled to Leamington chasing an Olympic qualifying time of 98 minutes, was just outside the required pace at half- distance in the women's 20km but found the conditions too much as she came home the winner in 1-43-15.

Great Britain and Northern Ireland overcame strong opposition as well as the 70mph blasts to win the inuaugral Royal Leamington Spa Royal Leamington Spa (lĕm`ĭngtən), town (1991 pop. 42,953), Warwickshire, central England, on the Leam River, a tributary of the Avon. The town, with its mineral springs, is primarily a health resort largely of 19th-century growth.  Junior Cup ahead of Spain and France on combined scores from men's and women's races at 10km.

Nuneaton's Bill Newhill (19-30) took second place in the over-65 group in the veterans 3km race, Daragh Tabram (7-00) of Coventry finished third in the under-11 development 1km, and Godiva's former international George Chaplin made a welcome return to record 10-20 in the One Mile Legends of Race Walking challenge.

Despite the severe weather the meeting was voted an all-round success and will hopefully strengthen UK Athletics' bid to bring the 2007 European Cup to Leamington
