A very versatile athlete, Patton competed at both the long jump and triple jump in his High School and College days but now concentrates his time around the 200 metres event. stole the show at yesterday's Norwich Union Challenge in rain-soaked Glasgow. Drawn in lane one, Patton raced home in 20.16 seconds - an outstanding time in the dismal conditions and winning the sponsors' award for the best performance of the day - with Devonish recording 20.60 in second. Devonish later ran the second leg for Britain's winning 4 x 100 metres relay team. The United States came out on top overall in the three-way match from Britain, who beat Russia by a single point. |
