ATHLETICS: Douglas seeks Monaco glory.


Nathan Douglas Nathan Douglas (born December 4, 1982 in Oxford) is a British athlete. He won the silver medal in triple jump at the 2006 European Championships in Athletics in Gothenburg with a jump of 17.21 metres. His personal best is 17.64 m (2005).  will be seeking a big pay day in Monaco tomorrow at the end of a week in which he has been criticised for chasing money over medals.

The 22-year-old triple-jumper competes at the World Athletics Final in Monaco where each event winner pockets $30,000 (pounds 16,300) and even the eighth-placed takes home $2,000 (pounds 1,100).

Douglas was criticised by fellow England international Jade Johnson Jade Johnson (born June 7, 1980) is an English athlete.

Specialising in long jump, she came second in the 2002 Commonwealth Games. Later she won the silver medal at the 2002 European Championships and finished fourth at the 2003 World Championships. Her personal best is 6.
 (above) for opting out of the Commonwealth Games in favour of competing at the World Indoor Championships. "For me it isn't about the money or the greed, it's always been about the medals," said Johnson
