Lakey converted the four-point play to give Harvard-Westlake an exciting 76-73 win. Lakey finished the game with 36 points - 18 in the second quarter. He played all 32 minutes, making 13 consecutive throws. Perram was impressive in two big victories last week. Monday, she scored three goals in a 16-0 victory over Westlake, and followed that two days later with five goals in a 16-3 rout of Royal. Agoura improved to 7-3 overall, 3-0 in league. ``I think we're playing real well right now,'' Perram said. ``We played some tough teams in our nonleague schedule, and I think that is helping us right now. ``I think I could still be playing better personally, but overall I'm pretty pleased.'' HEAD TO HEAD - MATCHUP OF THE WEEK: STEVE SMITH, TAFT FRESHMAN vs. THADDIS BOSLEY, CHATSWORTH SENIOR Bosley, a 6-foot-4 small forward, started at Taft of Woodland Hills before transferring this year to Chatsworth. Offensively, he's a spot-up shooter, effective from 15 to 20 feet. Defensively, he's improved steadily after making the adjustment to a new role and system with the Chancellors. Smith is the most exciting young player in the region, a spectacular mix of athletic ability and energy. He's only a freshman, so he's barely had time to put his game together. Physically he is exceptionally gifted, already possessing the skill to beat opponents off the dribble and get to the basket. When he adds a polished outside game and maturity, he'll be nearly unstoppable. Bosley, eager to play against his former mates, accepts the challenge of stopping Smith, who is second on the team in scoring (16.5), rebounding (6.7), steals and assists. The key is forcing Smith to shoot the jumper The simplest form of an on/off switch. It is just a tiny, plastic-covered metal block, which is pushed onto two pins to close that circuit. First, Smith has outstanding speed, meaning he can get past a defender no matter how much he lays off. Plus, in Taft's up-tempo game, Smith gets plenty of chances to work in the open court, his strength. UP AND COMER ANGELA VILLELA, Van Gogh Elementary School elementary school: see school.
