Almatis in Bauxite bauxite (bôk`sīt, bŏk`–), mixture of hydrated aluminum oxides usually containing oxides of iron and silicon in varying quantities. , Ark. (formerly Alcoa World Chemicals), will add 33 million lb/yr of additional capacity for fine precipitated and white alumina alumina (əl`mĭnə) or aluminum oxide, Al2O3, chemical compound with m.p. about 2,000°C; and sp. gr. about 4.0.  trihydrates by the end of this year. An additional 22-million-lb expansion is due next year for these Hydral and Onyx onyx (ŏn`ĭks), variety of cryptocrystalline quartz, differing from agate only in that the bands of which it is composed are parallel and regular.  Classica products.
