This implementation marks the beginning of the second phase of AHA's ongoing program to transform its online initiative into a more customer-centric channel. AHA had previously purchased ATG Commerce, which was used to launch the new corporate AHA Web site last fall.

The new corporate Internet site replaced a static site that lacked a centralized database and the functionality to tailor content to the organization's core audiences, including the general public, patients, donors, public officials, healthcare providers, and researchers/scientists. As the organization began to revisit its Web strategy last fall, AHA officials realized that driving content specific to each of these segments required a scalable technology platform that combined robust personalization technology with a flexible architecture.

"As an organization whose goal is to provide information on the prevention and treatment of heart disease and stroke, our online presence didn't allow us to reach out to our audiences individually. Users currently are able to make donations online and in the future will be able to register for conferences and order subscriptions through the site.
