ATC Teleports Launches New 15.2 Meter Antenna On Intelsat's 801 Satellite.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 16, 1999--

American Tower Corporation (NYSE:AMT) announced today that its teleports division, ATC Teleports, launched a new 15.2 meter Standard A earth station on Intelsat's 801 satellite at 328.5(Degree) east longitude located at ATC Teleports' facility in Vernon, New Jersey.

On May 26, ATC Teleports-New York inaugurated the earth station with downlink services of the Ms. Universe Pageant from Trinidad for CBS Corporation. In addition to international broadcasting, access to the Intelsat 801 satellite will also provide advanced high transmission technology applications such as international voice and data, Internet backbone access, TCM/IDR, and interactive video. With over 38 high-power C-band transponders, the 801's high performance levels will allow ATC Teleports-New York to expand its digital voice and data service to the Atlantic Ocean Region (AOR) with performance qualities equivalent to fiber while providing a better use of bandwidth.
