Although it may be true that Ameritech has partially met the competitive checklist, the fact that the Department of Justice says they still haven't fully complied confirms that the local telephone market in Michigan Michigan (mĭsh`ĭgən), upper midwestern state of the United States. It consists of two peninsulas thrusting into the Great Lakes and has borders with Ohio and Indiana (S), Wisconsin (W), and the Canadian province of Ontario (N,E). is not yet open to competitors. Until it is, Ameritech doesn't belong in the long distance business.
