AT&T reaches agreement with IVI Publishing, a major health content provider, for a new health and fitness service.


it has reached agreement with IVI Publishing IVI Publishing is an American-based home computer software company based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota in 1990 as Interactive Television, but later renamed in 1991 as Interactive Ventures, Inc. (where IVI stands for) and later to its current name. It was a joint-venture with the Mayo Clinic. , Inc., to be the first content provider for the health and fitness service of AT&T's new Personal Online Service.

In addition to content from IVI, the health and fitness service will include other proprietary content and public domain content from the Internet and elsewhere.

"With the advent of new services such as AT&T's health and fitness service, people can begin using the Internet to save time, save money and improve the quality of life for themselves and their families."

Customers will connect to AT&T's health and fitness service from any online service that offers access to the Internet's World Wide Web, including AT&T WorldNet(a) Services.

The AT&T health and fitness service will help people find information on everything from dieting and nutrition to workouts, yoga, first aid, mental health and the orgins, effects and treatments of medical conditions--plus the names of local, regional and national specialists, support groups, spas, health clubs, pharmacies and other resources.

"AT&T's health and fitness service offers a unique opportunity to increase awareness of IVI and the content we publish," said Ronald G. Buck, chairman of IVI. "AT&T's willingness to establish attractive terms, while supporting us in what we do best--providing high quality health-related content--makes this a very effective relationship."
