"The Internet can be a powerful tool for broadening children's educational horizons and challenging them to think outside the realm of their daily experiences," said Bogue. "We must work to ensure that all our children have access to that power."

Once schools are connected, AT&T Learning Network enables teachers to access online mentors, curriculum guidance, technical support and planning tools to help them use the Internet effectively in the classroom. AT&T Learning Network also includes software that permits the screening of unwanted or inappropriate material.

In September, Connecticut schools that have registered with AT&T will receive a package of services under the company's program, AT&T Learning Network. The package will include the software necessary to connect to AT&T WorldNet, the company's value-added Internet access services, and the software will be backed up by a toll-free number to handle questions from educators. In addition, each participating school will receive 100 free hours of Internet use.

Schools that participate in the ConneCT '96 project must call AT&T directly to receive a registration kit for the AT&T Learning Network. The AT&T Learning Network number is 1-800-809-1097. The AT&T Learning Network offer is available to all schools, kindergarten kindergarten [Ger.,=garden of children], system of preschool education.
