 Bank today announced a strategic marketing alliance that will make it easier for merchants to establish and manage an electronic storefront on the Web. The two leaders in Internet commerce will work together to provide AT&T's web site hosting and transactions services and Wells Fargo's credit card processing services to business customers.

"Through this strategic relationship, we can provide merchants with a fully integrated Internet commerce solution that removes the complexity of running a Web site and lets them focus on their own businesses and customers," said Kathleen Earley, AT&T Networked Commerce Services vice president. Wells Fargo is the first bank to join AT&T's recently announced Marketing Alliance Program (MAP). One of AT&T's objectives through the MAP program is to team with its major business customers to provide a one-stop Internet commerce solution for their mutual customers.

During the first phase of the program, the companies will launch a co-branded direct mail campaign targeted to a selected set of their small business customers. In subsequent phases, the companies plan to jointly conduct Internet commerce seminars for businesses and offer additional marketing promotions.
