AT&T Seeks Increase in Charge for AT&T USADirect (R) Service Collect Calls.


SHORT HILLS, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 7, 1994--AT&T today announced a proposed price increase for the service charge on collect calls made with AT&T USADirect (R) Service, effective November 17. The company has requested that the service charge for these calls increase from $2.75 to $3.50.

The increase, pending regulatory approval, would affect USADirect collect calls made to the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  from all 131 countries where the service is offered. In addition, the increase affects collect calls made using AT&T USADirect (R) Service In-Language from Colombia, the Dominican Republic Dominican Republic (dəmĭn`ĭkən), republic (2005 est. pop. 8,950,000), 18,700 sq mi (48,442 sq km), West Indies, on the eastern two thirds of the island of Hispaniola. The capital and largest city is Santo Domingo. , Nicaragua and Venezuela.

The new price is expected to increase annual revenue by about $10 million and is part of the company's ongoing effort to ensure that prices accurately reflect costs associated with providing service.

AT&T filed a tariff tariff, tax on imported and, more rarely, exported goods. It is also called a customs duty.
