AT&T SYSTEM ALLOWS SECURE TELECONFERENCING FOR UP TO 12 PARTIES
GREENSBORO, N.C., June 24 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T (NYSE: T) and Group Technologies Corporation have combined the protection of the AT&T Secure Voice/Data Terminal and the efficiencies of teleconferencing.
The AT&T Secure Conferencing System can link up to 12 parties using Secure Voice/Data Terminals. The conferencing system itself employs AT&T Secure Voice/Data Terminals and a 386 or 486 DOS-based personal computer. It is interoperable with all secure terminals fielded under the federal STU-III (secure telephone) program working at 2400 or 4800 bits per second.
The PC processes and routes the voice signal from the AT&T Secure Voice/Data Terminals. The system uses AT&T terminals to es- tablish encryption and decryption on a one-to-one basis with remote terminals. Remote conferees can use STU-III units manufactured by any vendor.
"This is a flexible, scalable solution for groups that need to expand their secure communications capabilities," said Mike Agee, AT&T sales manager for secure communications products.
"Users can tailor the system to meet their needs in terms of capacity. And the system can be easily shared by installing the PC and voice/data terminals on a cart."
AT&T and Group Technologies announced the system's availability this week at the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association trade show in Washington.
