AT&T SIMPLIFIES PRICING ON LOCAL TOLL CALLS IN ILLINOIS; CUSTOMERS SAVE WITH AT&T.


CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 23, 1996--In a move to simplify in-state local toll calling in Illinois Illinois, river, United States

, AT&T today announced a new basic flat rate 3.5 cents a minute charge for these calls.

Generally, local toll calls are those from customers' homes to numbers that are more than 15 miles yet still within their local calling area. For example, local toll calls would include those made between such locations as Schaumburg Schaum·burg

Ketchum also indicated that the 3.5 cents-per-minute flat rate offers consumers economy and simplicity. "Customers consistently tell us they want simple, straight-forward and clear calling plans. We answered that need with the industry's first single-rate long distance calling plan with no restrictions, and now we're delivering that same level of simplicity to our local toll customers in Illinois."

The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  for just 15 cents a minute. AT&T One Rate customers can take advantage of the new 3.5 cents per minute charge for local toll calls in Illinois 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Illinois consumers who are enrolled in the AT&T True Reach(R) Savings plan, could pay less than 3 cents per minute for local toll calls with applicable True Reach Savings discounts of up to 25 percent.
