AT&T OPENS NEW INTERNET DATA CENTERS IN CHINA/US.

:T) Bedminster, N.J., has announced that it is opening two new Internet See Web 2.0 and Internet2.  data centers in Shanghai, China, and in Oak Brook, Ill., which is located outside Chicago. The centers, the latest additions to AT&T's 1.8 million square- foot global Internet data center footprint, will help the company further accelerate its position in the hosting business worldwide.

The new Shanghai facility, located in the city's Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park, is the second AT&T Internet data center in that city. AT&T's first Shanghai data center, also in Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park, opened its doors to customers this summer. AT&T will operate the Shanghai facilities in alliance with local service providers and will coordinate service delivery with those providers. AT&T, however, will be customers' single point of contact for Enterprise Hosting Services being delivered in China.

Along with the Shanghai facilities, AT&T added more space earlier this year to its Internet data center in Hong Kong Hong Kong (hŏng kŏng), Mandarin Xianggang, special administrative region of China, formerly a British crown colony (2005 est. pop. 6,899,000), land area 422 sq mi (1,092 sq km), adjacent to Guangdong prov. . In addition to expanding its global data center footprint, AT&T took significant steps in 2006 to grow its Enterprise Hosting Services business beginning with the launch in May of a Hosting Services practice focusing on online gaming See gaming. .
