AT&T LOWERS LOCAL TOLL RATES FOR SMALL BUSINESSES.

JEFFERSON CITY Jefferson City, city (1990 pop. 35,481), state capital and seat of Cole co., central Mo., on the south bank of the Missouri River, near the mouth of the Osage; inc. 1825. , Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 6, 1995--AT&T has made it easier for Missouri's small businesses to save money by lowering rates on its local toll service to an average of 19 percent less than Southwestern Bell's basic local toll rates.

The new rates, which became effective Apr. 1, are for small businesses using AT&T's business long distance service or participating in AT&T's Small Business Advantage optional calling plan.

The AT&T Small Business Advantage gives virtually all Missouri's small businesses billing $25 or more per month an additional 10 percent discount on all their long distance and local toll calls.

Furthermore, by selecting an AT&T calling plan, such as Small Business Advantage, small businesses can combine their local toll calls with other domestic, international and 800 services to more quickly reach the $25 threshold.

Small Business Advantage further enhances small business savings through its billing technique. AT&T bills for the initial 30 seconds for these local toll calls and then in six-second increments.

In contrast most local telephone companies bill these local toll calls in full-minute increments. Callers pay for a full minute of network usage even if their call lasts only 40 seconds, for example. AT&T's call timing technique provides businesses with more accurate billing.
