AT&T INTRODUCES WORLD CONNECT SERVICE

 AT&T INTRODUCES WORLD CONNECT SERVICE
NEW YORK, April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Until today Americans traveling

or living abroad faced language barriers and unfamiliar dialing procedures when calling other countries. Beginning today, AT&T's World Connect(R) Service eliminates those obstacles in 34 countries.
Users of AT&T's World Connect Service will be able to place calls from 34 countries by using their AT&T Calling Card or AT&T Universal Card. Calls will be completed with the assistance of an English- speaking AT&T operator.
"Americans who appreciate the convenience of calling home with AT&T USADirect(R) Service have told us they want this same service when they call other countries while traveling," said Margaret Barrett, director, global consumer services, AT&T. "We are introducing the service to and from 34 countries and will add more as we complete negotiations with our partners in telecommunications administrations around the world.
Customers can access AT&T World Connect Service by dialing the AT&T USADirect Service number from the countries where World Connect is available.
Callers then give the AT&T operator the country code, city code and local number of the person they want to reach, along with their AT&T Calling Card or Universal Card number and the operator completes the call.
"The beauty of World Connect is its familiar ease of use," Barrett said. "Americans living or traveling outside the United States will now be able to place and pay for calls as easily as they do when they call back to the states."
AT&T World Connect joins a family of AT&T services that helps customers keep in touch and manage work while on the road. Through AT&T USADirect Service, callers have access to AT&T Message Service, which allows users to leave voice messages in more than 170 countries. It connects callers to AT&T Language Line Services, which provides interpreters in more than 140 languages. Users can place up to 10 calls with a single connection to an AT&T operator. Customers also can reach AT&T 800 numbers as well as directory assistance in the United States.
