In the Middle Ages, a number of maritime states asserted sovereignty over large portions of the high seas. Radiotelephone Facility - WOM WOM - write-only memory , the only facility of its kind in the world, provide lifesaving, two way voice communication between ships at sea, or aircraft, and telephones on land, sea, or in the air. Recently, Langley and his staff assisted a caller whose 44-foot sailing vessel began to sink off the coast of Aruba. The caller's only means of communication was with AT&T High Seas radio operators who were able to save the man's life. Similar to 911 operators, the AT&T high seas operations staff, composed of three to four FCC (1) (Federal Communications Commission, Washington, DC, www.fcc.gov) The U.S. government agency that regulates interstate and international communications including wire, cable, radio, TV and satellite. The FCC was created under the U.S. licensed operators, fields more than 6,000 calls each month.
