AT&T DONATES $116,000 TO UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI

 MIAMI, June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Students and faculty in the School of Biology at the University of Miami will benefit from a $116,000 donation of a networked computer lab, as part of AT&T's University Equipment Donation Program.
 The University of Miami is among 61 institutions worldwide who will be receiving computer gifts totaling $7 million this year. The computers are manufactured by AT&T's subsidiary company, NCR.
 "It is our belief that by offering the latest innovative technology to university students that AT&T is encouraging creative application of technology," said Barry Johnson, AT&T's director of corporate affairs for its Florida operations.
 Two other Florida schools -- Florida State University and the University of Central Florida -- were also selected to receive computer labs through the program.
 The AT&T University Equipment Donation Program, which began in 1984, is a component of the company's commitment to improving education. It is complemented by direct cash grants and numerous innovative projects at all levels, from kindergarten through graduate school.
