AT&T Answers The Call to Help The American Red Cross.


WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 7, 1998--

More Calls Mean More Help to Those in Need

During the month of December, for every residential direct-dialed domestic and international call consumers make from home, AT&T will make a donation to the American Red Cross American Red Cross: see Red Cross.  up to a total of $3 million.

The funds raised through this promotion will help the American Red Cross to continue its humanitarian mission in communities large and small around the world. Television commercials launching this initiative will begin airing on December 8th.

"AT&T and the American Red Cross have a long and rich history of working together," said Elizabeth Dole, president of the American Red Cross. "AT&T is the American Red Cross's largest corporate blood donor. They provide the Red Cross with translators and wireless phones on a regular basis. Thousands of AT&T employees volunteer with their local Red Cross Chapters through the AT&T CARES program. Every day in neighborhoods around the country, the Red Cross touches the lives of thousands of families in need. And it's thanks to the help from companies like AT&T that for over a century the Red Cross has always been there.
