AT&T Announces New Contract with Northwestern Business College; AT&T Provides Networking Solution to Chicago-Area College.

: T) today announced a new contract to provide an IP network solution to Northwestern Business College, a private business college with campuses in Chicago, Bridgeview and Naperville, Illinois Naperville is a city in DuPage and Will counties in Illinois in the United States. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 128,358; The United States Census Bureau estimated the population in 2006 at 142,901. .

Under the terms of the five-year contract, AT&T companies will deliver a Multiprotocol Label Switching (networking) Multiprotocol Label Switching - (MPLS) A packet switching protocol developed by the IETF. Initially developed to improve switching speed, other benefits are now seen as being more important.  (MPLS (1) (MultiProtocol Lambda Switching) The earlier name for GMPLS. See GMPLS.

This solution will provide the college with a fully managed Wide Area Network (WAN) for faster data transmission, using an IP-based service backbone. The single multiservice network will also allow dedicated access for Internet and extranet connectivity.

This solution, furthermore, aligns with AT&T's convergence strategy, enabling Northwestern Business College's network infrastructure to deliver greater levels of efficiency and productivity.

In addition, the agreement calls for network management and data customer premise equipment (CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) Communications equipment that resides on the customer's premises.

AT&T is the primary provider of voice and network services to Northwestern Business College.
