AT&T Announces New Contract with John I Haas Inc.; AT&T Deploys Hosting and Network Services Solution for Largest Hops Grower in the Pacific Northwest.

: T) today announced a new contract to provide enterprise hosting and network services to John I. Haas Inc., a privately owned agricultural company that grows, trades, and processes hops and hops products worldwide. The company has its headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Under the terms of the two-year contract, AT&T will implement data hosting and a Multiprotocol Label Switching (networking) Multiprotocol Label Switching - (MPLS) A packet switching protocol developed by the IETF. Initially developed to improve switching speed, other benefits are now seen as being more important.  (MPLS (1) (MultiProtocol Lambda Switching) The earlier name for GMPLS. See GMPLS.

The MPLS network serves as a backbone technology, delivering a private IP-based network and enabling easier use of various communications services, such as videoconferencing A real time video session between two or more users or between two or more locations. Although the first videoconferencing was done with traditional analog TV and satellites, inhouse room systems became popular in the early 1980s after Compression Labs pioneered digitized video systems  and audioconferencing. John I. Haas Inc. intends to integrate IP data, VoIP and videoconferencing over the single MPLS network, allowing more effective use of IT resources.

AT&T's MPLS network includes more than 1,500 nodes, with service availability in more than 127 countries.

The enterprise hosting service will provide John I. Haas Inc. with end-to-end management of its network, servers and applications. In addition, the service will deliver comprehensive monitoring and management options, performance reporting and direct connectivity to the AT&T Global Network.

This solution, deployed to John I. Haas Inc.'s locations in Yakima, Wash., and Washington, D.C., provides increased network reliability and security. This solution further aligns with AT&T's customer-focused convergence strategy, enabling John I. Haas Inc. to seamlessly integrate future applications and communications services.
