AT& Wireless Services Group Appoints Mohan Gyani as Chief Financial Officer.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 25, 2000

AT& today announced the appointment of Mohan Gyani as executive vice president and chief financial officer of AT&'s newly formed Wireless Services Group. Gyani, a telecom and wireless industry veteran, was formerly the CFO of AirTouch Communications.

Gyani, 48, will join AT& Wireless Services Group on February 1 to lead its financial strategy, planning and business development. He will report to John D. Zeglis, AT&'s president and the Wireless Group's chairman and CEO.

After the Vodafone AirTouch merger, Gyani was head of strategy and corporate development and member of the board of directors for Vodafone AirTouch plc. Prior to the merger, Gyani was executive vice president and chief financial officer of AirTouch Communications, from 1995 to 1999.

As executive vice president and CFO of AirTouch, Gyani was a key negotiator in the $120 billion merger of AirTouch and Vodafone and the subsequent $70 billion joint venture with Bell Atlantic. Prior to the merger, Gyani played a key role in the company's growth from an IPO to a $70 billion global company in five years.

Gyani began his career in 1978 with Pacific Telesis Group where he held a number of financial and strategic operations positions, including vice president and treasurer of the Pacific Telesis Group and vice president and controller of Pacific Bell.

Gyani, who has a MBA in finance from San Francisco State University, was born in India and grew up in several countries before settling in San Francisco in 1970. He and his wife, Tejinder, have two children.

As previously announced, AT& plans to conduct an initial public offering of AT& Wireless Group tracking shares in the spring following a March shareholder vote. AT& anticipates that a full distribution of the remaining shares in the AT& Wireless Group tracking stock will be made to shareowners of AT& common stock sometime thereafter.
